Exhibition  works in the section of rare printings in Kaunas County Public Library since 1993. The exhibition illustrates development of half thousand year‘s printed words, since the first printed books (incunabula) until the end of XIX century – the beginning of XX century publications.
Exhibition consists of unique and valuable material such as: incunabula, paleotypes, personal library remainders of important people of Grand Duchy of Lithuania, rare bindings of art, important manuscript records, first chronicles, books of press ban period, significant works of science, and etc.


We invite students of schools and universities to register for exhibition. We will tell you about the art of binding books, printings of Grand Duchy of Lithuania,  the period of press ban and etc. Our little visitors will see childish books which our grandparents read. We will also show the biggest and the smallest books.


In addition, students can learn about digital documents; we teach how to use digitized documentary heritage  websites such as epaveldas.lt, europeana.eu, wdl.org, we present search capabilities, e-services, collections.
